A vintage pendant lamp with height-adjustable rise and fall mechanism with a wide white-lacquered shade and cap, and a tubular brass pull handle, made in the late 1970s by Belgian lighting company, Massive.
The rise and fall aspect of the lamp makes it useful in multi-functional rooms, where it can be nearer the ceiling for general lighting, and pulled down to a little above eye-level for more intimate dining or strong task-lighting. The metal shades guarantee a strong downlight, with very little escaping from the sides. The slotted cap does, however, cast an interesting starburst pattern onto the ceiling when the light is on, especially if combined with a crown silver or crown gold bulb, which both reflects much of the light into the lamp, and provides gentler, glare-free illumination.
The lamp accepts a single B22 bayonet cap bulb.
