An original vintage clear glass decanter decorated ‘a fasce’, with two bands of coloured glass – red and blue – applied to the face of the glass and heated and worked until they’re flat to the surface. The stopper is mouth-blown and hollow. The decanter was, it seems, modelled after Gio Ponti’s ‘970’ service for Venini in 1946, which has the same cylindrical form, decoration and colour palette. It was made on the island of Murano, probably sometime in the 1950s or 60s, but the maker is unknown.
The thick base has been ground and polished flat, with a ground and polished pontil mark to the centre.

Condition
A small mark near the bottom of the decanter, which may be from the blasting process or a small knock received after – either way, not very detrimental to the decanter’s appearance. Otherwise, excellent.
