A small, but perfectly-formed, handmade table lamp of blackened wrought iron in the shape of a peacock, with a cream-lacquered metal candle tube and clip-on card shade. Dating to the mid-1950s or thereabouts, it is unmarked, but in the style of bird-shaped lighting produced by Jean Touret for Atelier Marolles around this period.
The lamp has been cleaned and rewired with a generous length of new 2-core twisted cable with a period-style braided brown silk sheath. It has its (possibly) original ‘Zeppelin’ inline switch.
The lamp accepts a single B22 bayonet cap bulb. The shade requires a candle bulb to clip on.
