A large vintage – nearly antique – mouth-blown opaline glass shade with neoclassical-style moulded decoration. The surface of the glass has a faux-marble finish, achieved by dipping the shade into an aqueous solution with paints floating on the surface, as with the production of traditional marbled paper.
It is capped with a very heavy distressed cast brass gallery and hook.
The lamp accepts a single B22 bayonet cap bulb. It has been rewired with a new British-made solid brass lamp-holder and a generous length of premium Italian double-insulated 3-core cable with a vintage-style ‘old gold’ braid.
