A scarce model PU 3579/6 cased glass vase in red with an unusual height, designed by Sven Palmqvist in 1956 for Swedish glassworks, Orrefors. The 1956 catalogue shows this size only in 225mm and 320mm heights, with this vase coming in at 260mm. The design was discontinued by the time the next catalogue was published in 1960.
The three vases we have of this model (see last picture) came from a small clearance of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Copenhagen some years ago, with many other fine and rare pieces of midcentury Orrefors glass.
The vase is signed to the base 'Orrefors - PU 3579/6'.

Condition
A few light marks to the base and sides. Very minor water mark to the very bottom of the vase. Nothing that shows whilst displayed, only when closely examined.
