An original vintage / near-antique mouth-blown duck egg blue opaline glass shade with a classic art deco stepped ‘wedding cake’ design, capped with a period chromed brass gallery. It is most probably English in original, and dates to the 1930s.
The lamp is quite small, and would likely have been for hanging in a window, rather than illuminating a large room. It would be perfect as an accent lamp in a larger room, or hung as the main light in a smaller space, like a small hallway, WC or pantry. The colour and translucent nature of the opaline glass means it gives out a cool, soft, and diffused light.
The lamp has been brought up to modern safety standards with a brand new British-made earthed bulb-holder, and has been rewired with a generous length of premium Italian 3-core double insulated cable with a period-style mottled grey linen braid.
The lamp accepts a single B22 bayonet cap bulb.
