A unique glass perfume bottle with dipper stopper, decorated all over with a ‘random strap’ decoration, whereby trails of clear glass were applied to the bottle and then fused in the furnace. The bottle was designed by Per Lütken for Danish glassworks, Holmegaard, in 1964, and is, by repute, a one-off piece given by the factory’s director to an employee’s daughter for her 16th birthday, from whom we acquired it many years ago.

The piece doesn’t appear in Holmegaard catalogues, nor in Per Lütken’s workbooks, and the style of the engraved markings is unusual for this period – the factory largely stopped dating their pieces in this fashion after 1962.

Signed to the base ‘Holmegaard 19(PL)64’.
