An antique kuttrolf or klukflaske decanter, named so because of the ‘clucking’ noise it makes when pouring from it. Made with pushed in sides that create a thin tube in each corner of the decanter, and a larger central cavity. Made by Holmegaard, Denmark, in or around the early 1920s, when green klukflasker first appear in their catalogues.
It was blown using a traditional ‘half-post’ method, something largely discontinued by Holmegaard by c.1935. The stopper is loose, and is probably a later addition, but the colour matches well. Early kluk bottles like this were originally sold both with and without stoppers, with the buyer using a cork if purchased without.
Finished to the base with a rough pontil mark.
