A tall handmade wrought steel floor lamp in the Arts & Crafts manner, with elegant tapering lines that contrast with fairly naive construction and a random hand-beaten design all over. Probably made in Germany, possibly estate-made.
Despite being made of blackened metal, the tall and slender nature of the lamp lends it a delicate presence that can quietly blend into most rooms. Having a square profile, the lamp would probably be best completed with a square shade – perhaps something bold if you don’t want a particularly quiet lamp.
The metal has been cleaned and lightly polished with a museum-grade conservation wax to protect the ferrous surface from rust, and all of the lamp’s electric parts (which were missing when we acquired the lamp) have been reinstated with period-sympathetic components that bring it up to modern safety standards – a British-made solid brass B22 lamp-holder with a safety-switch feature and a solid brass cord grip to the base, as well as a generous length of premium Italian 3-core double insulated cable with a vintage style mottled grey linen sheath.
The lamp accepts a single B22 bayonet cap bulb.

Antique 160cm Tall Arts & Crafts Wrought & Hammered Steel Floor Lamp
Condition
The lamp retains much of its original black finish, but much has also worn off over time, with a dark grey steel showing underneath. The lamp has a few knocks and bumps to its extremities. Otherwise, generally in excellent condition.
