An original vintage pair of huge and eminently frameable architectural plans for the iconic double-decker beach huts at Poole's Sandbanks Beach, designed by the borough architect, Geoffrey Hopkinson, for the area's 1963 redevelopment. One shows the elevations of the huts, and the other the layout of the site, including decorative paving area. These are two small pieces (actually, quite large pieces) of post-war British seaside history, and the huts stand today, practically unchanged.
The plans were draughted by Douglas Black, from whose estate we got these prints. Black had a 40 year career as an architectural draughtsman, working on many civic projects in Manchester, Poole, Northamptonsshire and South Yorkshire. We acquired many examples of his work from his estate after he passed away, from his student years in the early 1950s through to his retirement in the late 1980s.

These were working drawings, and, as you'd expect, are not in perfect condition. They have minor wear from handling, which adds to the character and authenticity. In generally excellent condition otherwise.
