A small wall-hanging mirror with convex plate and wooden frame in the Florentine style, with an egg and dart design and rope twist edge impressed into the gesso layer and parcel gilded, with red and black boles left exposed to highlight the design. It was made in Italy and dates from around the 1950s. It bears a (presumably) British importers tag to the verso – ‘AK Trade Mark’ with two rampant lions.
The finish to the frame has become gently distressed over the years, which adds much character.
